Chicken/Tofu Milanese
“Cotoletta alla Milanese” is one of Milan’s signature dishes — easy to prepare and simply delicious! It was first described in a document in 1148, which is still preserved in the Basilica of Saint Ambrose in Milan. Kids will have fun setting up the breading station with bowls of flour, egg wash and breadcrumbs then dipping the thinly sliced/pounded cutlets into each station.
Spaghetti and Meatballs
While this is a popular Italian dish in the US, it is unlikely to be found in Italy. In Italy, you can find meatballs or polpettes as a starter and without spaghetti! Spaghetti with meatballs was actually developed by Italian immigrants in New York.
Zuppa di Scarola e Fagioli
This soup is a traditional dish from Campania region in Southern Italy; ideal for warming up on cold winter evenings. It is considered a peasant, one-pot dish but it is easy to make, delicious, nutritious, and affordable! If you have leftover parmesan cheese rind, add that to the soup to make it creamier and cheesier.
