General Tso’s Chicken
General Tso’s chicken originated from the Hunan province in China and is rumored to be named after Zuo Zongtang (pronounced Tso Tsungtang), a military leader during the Qing dynasty. Whether General Tso really ate this dish in his time, nobody knows!
The word "teriyaki" is a combination of two words - "teri" / "tare" refers to the shine from the sugar glaze and "yaki" refers to the cooking method of grilling or broiling. Teriyaki is believed to have originated around the 17th century in Japan.
Kofta Meatball Curry
Koftas (from Persian "kūfta", meaning pounded meat) are spiced meatball or meatloaf dishes found in Middle Eastern and South and Central Asian cuisines. This kofta meatball curry in a tomato masala sauce is from the state of Goa, on the western coast of the Indian peninsula.
Satay (barbecued spiced meat on a skewer) is a well-known Southeast Asian-style grilled meat dish. Even though Indonesia is thought to be the true birthplace of satay, this dish is found in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Serving these satays with our homemade peanut dipping sauce, cucumber and a bowl of rice will transport you to the streets of Singapore.
Bulgogi literally means “fire” (bul) “meat” (gogi), in other words BBQ! Korean BBQ is a must-have on your first trip to a Korean restaurant. It is usually thinly sliced, marinated beef sirloin or tenderloin. In our recipe, we are doing a Korean BBQ chicken, broiled in the oven instead of grilled. Served with steamed rice and broccoli rabe namul to create a balanced meal. Namul is a kind of banchan (side dishes). Having an assorted range of banchan is a traditional way of Korean cooking.
