Kenya is home to an incredible diversity of languages. There are 68 different languages spoken across the country, with Swahili and English serving as its official languages. “Jambo!” is one of the most familiar Swahili greetings.

Mount Kenya

The highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa, after Mount Kilimanjaro. This extinct volcano is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kenya is one of the world’s great wildlife destinations. Its savannas are home to zebras, wildebeest, lions, giraffes, gazelles, elephants, hyenas, and many other animals, with the Maasai Mara forming part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem.  

Maasai Mara National Reserve

One of Africa’s most famous safari destinations, the Maasai Mara is known for its sweeping grasslands, abundant wildlife, and the annual migration of more than a million wildebeest into Kenya.

Kenya’s landscape is remarkably diverse, stretching from Indian Ocean coastline and mangrove swamps to fertile highlands, the Great Rift Valley, broad savannas, mountains, lakes, and rainforest.

Lake Turkana
Located in northern Kenya’s Rift Valley, Lake Turkana is the world’s largest permanent desert lake and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kenya is famous for its world-class runners. The country has produced some of the world’s most celebrated long-distance and Olympic athletes, including Eliud Kipchoge, Kipchoge Keino, Paul Tergat, and Catherine Ndereba.
