Flowing through Brazil, the Amazon is the second longest river in the world, trailing only the Nile - and it carries more water than any other river on Earth.

Brazil is the only country in South America that speaks Portuguese, a legacy of Portuguese colonization in the 16th century - most of its neighbors speak Spanish.

Iguazu Falls
Straddling the border between Brazil and Argentina, this natural wonder is made up of 275 individual waterfalls cascading through lush rainforest.
